"RosettaNet PIP's Implemented in JD Edwards OneWorld Solution"

Our first release of RosettaNet Partner Interface Processes (PIPs) to automate buy/sell transactions between trading partners, is now available. Using the XPI toolset, we've mapped OneWorld processes to the XPI broker. On the "other side" of the broker, we've mapped buy/sell processes using the RosettaNet standards. So a OneWorld application can now send information to any trading partner that also supports RosettaNet. JD Edwards started with the buy/sell PIPs because every company has to buy and sell product.

The following RosettaNet processes are currently available today:

- Purchase orders/acknowledgment - send and receive (PIP 3A4)
- Distribute order status - notify interested parties when an order changes (PIP 3A6)
- Query order status (PIP 3A5)
- Shipping notification - send and receive (PIP 3B2)
- Invoices - send and receive (PIP 3C3)
- Remittance advice (payment notification) (PIP 3C6)
- Price and availability queries (PIP 3A2)
- Maintain account - maintain customer and supplier information (PIP 1A2)*

In the future we will add more PIPs because: 1) We've already mapped the OneWorld processes to the broker - these mappings are largely reusable for other standards. 2) We've already mapped the RosettaNet processes from the broker outward. The processes are pretty generic and should also be largely reusable for new standards. Over time, we expect to support standards for inter-company process flows in a variety of industries, including CPG, automotive, pharmaceutical and industrial fabrication and assembly.

Information from Jared Faellaci & Travis White, Ph.D. (VP of Strategic Planning) of JD Edwards. Editor's note: We welcome other software companies to share in detail what XML processes they have done & are planning. Send to philobal@idii.com

  • Cadre Technologies (WMS, TMS, OMS, ABC, SQL Server, NT/2000) announced new solution called "Cadence", a NEW fulfillment software solution designed to help distributors. Cadence was built as a single system that consolidates critical distribution activities such as warehouse management, order entry, transportation management and activity billing. It was designed to replace the individual host, warehouse and shipping systems which traditionally could not exchange critical data and operate seamlessly.

The Cadence suite of products includes:

Cadence WMS is designed to organize and improve product flow and throughput in distribution and fulfillment centers and manufacturing warehouses. It precisely monitors and controls inventory and work activity at every stage of product movement. It also significantly improves personnel productivity, resource scheduling and customer service.

Cadence TMS enables distributors to automatically ship products more efficiently, more accurately, and in more environments. It combines easy-to-use browser-based software and barcode scanning technology that takes the paperwork, the guesswork and the mistakes out of the even most complex package delivery environment.

Cadence OMS. With this order management system, distributors use the same database that runs the warehouse to serve customers. Sales and customer service representatives know immediately whether products are available, from both local and remote warehouses as well as virtual warehouses. It also feeds customer information to Cadence warehouse and transportation systems in order to achieve and maintain superior levels of service.

Cadence ABS. The Cadence Activity Billing System provides complete tracking and billing of all activities such as receiving, storage, picking, shipping and order capture which are generated by the WMS, TMS and OMS modules. It creates a customizable, detailed schedule of billable and non-billable services including service pricing which produces invoices through customers' accounting systems.

  • Clicklogistics, Inc. (Web based TMS) announced the release of Version 2.0 of its web-native transportation management system (TMS), Clicklogistics Online. The system has been enhanced with advanced optimization tools and electronic communications functions. Release 2.0 contains four significant additions including new optimization routines, a carrier mass tender module, Advanced Shipment Notification (ASN) functionality, and a new Vendor Interface.

The optimization routines enable shippers with a variety of operational needs to consolidate shipments and reduce transportation costs. The mass tender module allows shippers to actively manage the carrier tender process. ASN functionality enables customers to send and receive pickup and delivery notifications. Savings from the ASN functionality and the mass tender module come from elimination of EDI/VAN charges, elimination of internal IT spending, and reduced expedited freight costs.

Version 2.0’s Vendor Interface allows Clicklogistics customers to give their vendors limited, secure access to Clicklogistics Online. This feature will have a positive impact on shippers’ ability to enforce compliance to their corporate routing guide.
